Overview

The harvest is about 80-90% done in Brazil. Although the quality levels usually decrease by the end of the harvest, good quality is now certain for most of the crop with aflatoxin levels very controlled compared to last year.

Prices for the farmer’s stocks remain at low levels when compared to farmer’s costs, which is causing some early rumors of another area decrease for the next crop.

Besides, diesel and agricultural inputs’ costs are increasing with the USA-Iran war, so growers are faced with tough decisions that do not seem to get easier in the short term.

Furthermore, USD fluctuations and international markets do not really help shellers, which are cautious to offer, while the market is cautious to BID.

EU remains quietly watching the Argentine crop develop under heavy rains, Russia shows some appetite if their levels are reached, South Africa receives some volumes, however it seems that Algeria was the deal closer of the month, which we shall confirm in the next months of exports.

Exports

March has shown an slight increase in peanut exports, similarly to last year, but with 19 thousand tons exported this time. This closes the 24/25 crop (commercialized from April 25 to March 26) with 323 thousand tons exported, record number for Brazil.

Peanut oil had another decrease, closing exports in 5,3 thousand tons, however, finishing a record crop year of 156 thousand tons exported.

Exports of kernels are up. During March, Brazil exported about 19 thousand tonnes, 5 more vis-à-vis February. And about 26% more than March 25. This pick up is certainly due to the availability of peanuts from the new crop coming into the factories and consequently out to the world.

We have replaced China with South Africa, since exports to China are close to zero and insignificant to the analysis now, while South Africa has been importing interesting volumes.

During March, Russian, South African and Algerian imports increased, while EU27 remained steady.

Peanut oil exports decrease about 32% vis-à-vis February 26. And were 48% lower than March 25, where we started to see the increase that would lead to a record year in peanut oil exports.

Chinese imports of peanut oil decrease more significantly, while Italian imports decreased slightly.
